Isla's 1st Birthday - party 2 Actual birthday day

Isla celebrated her birthday on Saturday 24th March with family on our deck out the back. I couldn't resist and bought her some gorgeous fairy wings to wear for the big occasion and we even tried out some hair clips for her beautiful reddish-blond hair.

Isla was given some lovely gifts and was thought of by many on her special day - thank you for all the birthday cards!

Being the good mum I try to be, I had to make her her birthday cake in the shape of number 1 and I was so pleased that she really enjoyed it! The proof is in the pudding!

12 Things about Isla at 12 months:

1. Looks gorgeous (goes without saying really)
2. Says Dad Dad
3. Commando crawls
4. Can stand up by herself for short periods of time and always has her hand up for you to walk her around
5. Loves playing peek-a-boo
6. Says Dog Dog when Buster barks next door (mind you she calls any small animal including our cat Kiai, a Dog!)
7. She leans in for Kisses
8. She starts sleeping in her room but always ends up in Mum and Dad's bed - She does not sleep through the night (longest period was 8 hours - once and once only)
9. Loves music and singing especially "Old MacDonald had a Farm" and the old classic "If you knew Suzie, like I know Suzie, Oh, Oh what a gal!"
10. Can turn pages of her books very well and only tears them occasionally - hence the move to the good old cardboard book variety
11. Eats very well ( she is currently 10.5kg!)
12. Has 6 teeth - 3 up the top and 3 down the bottom

Isla's 1st Birthday - Party 1

Isla celebrated her 1st birthday with her Wednesday playgroup mates (as you might guess, we meet other mum's and babies around the same age on Wednesdays and it provides us both with socialisation and an outing for the week - so this was the Wednesday before her birthday day). She was spoilt rotten of course and had lots of fun playing with all the toys and boys around her!

Our playgroup friends made her a birthday cake and we all sang happy birthday to her. She really didn't know what was going on and I had to help with blowing out the candle. We had a really lovely time and enjoyed all the goodies everyone brought to help celebrate.

Here are just a couple of cute photos of Isla in her new booster seat. She loves sitting at the table making a big mess.

Glaren and Ken

Karen and Glenn's Wedding

On the 17th March our best friend Karen married Glenn in a romantic beachfront wedding up at Caloundra. I was honoured to be the Matron of Honour (a title that sounds a bit drab, but meant a great deal!) and Duncan was the MC for the evening. Their two children Lily and Lewis looked fabulous in their wedding gear but Kaz really stole the show (and so she should being the bride) as she looked very elegant and absolutely stunning. Glenn spruced up well too but he managed to take everyone's breath away when he surprised Karen with a song he wrote and performed at the reception. It was a wonderful event and Kaz and Glenn took off to Vietnam for their honeymoon for 2 weeks - without the kids. They had a great time.
